Primary responsibility for this position will be to identify and acquire timber and develop additional outside “gatewood” vendors with an emphasis on acquiring material to supply the sawmill and will ideally be able to help market / merchandise off any material not needed for company operations. The position will have responsibility to see the deal through from beginning to end, including supervising the harvest and clean up maintaining best management practices and striving toward a goal of exceeding landowner expectations. The position will report to the Procurement Manager.
Desired background and experience:
The ideal background for this position will be a self-motivated professional experienced in procuring hardwood timber and/or logs. They will need the ability to cruise timber accurately, and understand and define specifications for different markets (recognize highest and best use). Someone who is highly motivated, likes to make deals, develop good relationships, and complete successful projects. Someone who can take responsibility for their own activities, grow and develop and thrive in an atmosphere where they can work as part of a team, but can also “run their own show and make it happen on their own.”
The specific location is flexible, but the individual will need to currently live, or relocate if necessary, in order to cover a portion of the “wood basket” for this mill which would be Northwest Arkansas, Southwest Missouri, or Northeast Oklahoma.
